Buffalo Bills say goodbye to Terrell Owens, others

The Terrell Owens Era in Buffalo came to an expected end Saturday night.
The Bills’ roster transformation continued as they announced they will not be offering new contracts to free agents Owens, defensive end Ryan Denney and wide receiver Josh Reed.
“We wanted to inform all three players ahead of the start of the free agency period so they could begin making their plans,” general manager Buddy Nix said.
Owens joined the Bills as a free agent in March of 2009 and the theory was that he would inject life into a stagnant Buffalo offense.
He led the team with 55 catches for 829 yards, but scored only five touchdowns as the Bills ranked 30th in passing.
Upon hearing the news, Owens said on Twitter “I would like to thank the great fans in Buffalo, Ralph Wilson and the Bills’ organization for all their support this past season. I enjoyed myself.”
Reed and Denney were two of the longest-tenured Bills, both drafted in 2002.
