Harris reaches radio milestone
Harris RF Communications celebrated the shipment of its 100,000th Falcon III AN/PRC-152(C) tactical radio on Monday. The Rochester-based military radio manufacturer employs 2,300 locally.
The Falcon III is a handheld radio used by various branches of the U.S military globally.
Firms lauded for diversity
Bausch & Lomb Inc., Corning Inc. Eastman Kodak Co., Nixon Peabody LLP and Xerox Corp. are among the major area employers being lauded by the Human Rights Campaign for their policies and procedures regarding workplace diversity.
The businesses are included in its annual 590-company report card, the Corporate Equality Index. The five businesses all received 100 percent ratings. Companies are ranked for having diversity training, domestic partner benefits, a lesbian/gay/transgender employee resource group, and for their marketing to or sponsorship of events in the lesbian/gay/transgender marketplace.
A number of other area employers also were included in the Index. Harris Interactive received a 93 on the report card while ITT Industries received a 60 and Thomson Reuters received a 75.

Local architect receives award
Architect John Fayko of Canandaigua has won the James William Kideney Gold Medal Award for lifetime achievement.
The award will be presented on Sept. 25 by the American Institute of Architects of New York State at its annual convention, to be held in Rochester.
Officials of AIANYS said Fayko’s achievements include service on the Genesee Expressway Task Force and the Al Sigl Center board.
Fayko was a field office architect for Midtown Plaza, the first American enclosed shopping mall in a major downtown.
