Schumer urges Adidas not to move jersey-making overseas
U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer will be in Perry, Wyoming County, today to call on sportswear giant Adidas to keep manufacturing the National Basketball Association’s game day jerseys at the American Classic Outfitters plant there.
Adidas has the NBA contract to make the jerseys worn by NBA players. But according to Schumer’s office, Adidas has indicated it plans to move such production overseas, which could result in the loss of 100 jobs in Perry.
Adidas officials did not immediately respond to a message today seeking comment.
