McQuaid sophomore Max Sertl claimed the alpine combined title today at the Section V Alpine Skiing Championships at Bristol Mountain.

Sertl tied for first in the afternoon slalom and was third in the morning giant slalom.

His all-around finish led McQuaid to its first Class A team title since 2005. Sertl tied Brighton junior Jake Ahlman in the slalom.

The Knights (460.11) outpaced Brighton by 2.82 points. Canandaigua was third, and defending champ Pittsford Sutherland was fourth.

Alfred-Almond claimed its first Class B title in three years by a nearly six-point margin over Livonia.

Brighton’s Sam Golini won the Class A giant slalom in the morning to qualify for the 12-person state team that will represent Section V in the state meet on Feb. 23 and 24 at Bristol.

Golini finished second in both runs to claim the two-run title with a time of 1 minute, 18.18 seconds, nearly sixth tenths of a second faster than Honeoye Falls-Lima’s Drew Tallon.

Matthew Williams from Lyons claimed the Class B title after finishing seventh and second in his two runs. His time of 1:22.06 was .49 faster than Williamson’s Zach Cappon.
