Rochester Knighthawks make the most of power plays against Philadelphia
Shawn Evans, John Grant, and Shawn Williams each finished with six points as the Rochester Knighthawks earned a 12-6 win over the host Philadelphia Wings on Saturday in a National Lacrosse League game at the Wachovia Center.
Evan and Grant each tallied one goal with five assists and Williams added two goals and four assists for the Knighthawks (5-3), who converted on 8 of 9 power-play opportunities.
Gary Gait added four goals for Rochester, who had been 2-11 in their past 13 road games entering the Philly contest.
The Wings (1-6) jumped out to a 3-0 lead 3:51 into the first quarter.
Steve Toll, who had scored just once in seven games, notched his second goal of the night as the K-hawks climbed to within 5-3 at 5:22 of the second.
Gait then scored on the power play to help the K-hawks slash the Philly lead to 5-4 before half.
Chris Schiller scored the first goal of the second half on the power play as the K-hawks were able to tie the game after trailing for the entire first half.
Williams scored his second power-play goal of the game to help Rochester claim its first lead of the game at 6-5.
Rochester closed the game on a 9-1 run.
