Meeting focuses on massage therapy for fibromyalgia

Licensed massage therapist Nadine Steg will discuss massage and fibromyalgia at the next meeting of the Fibromyalgia Association of Rochester. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Greece Town Hall, 1 Vince Tofany Blvd. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Screenings, talks on hearing health

October is National Audiology Awareness Month and National Protect Your Hearing Month.

Hart Hearing Centers are offering community presentations this month:

Oct. 13: At 12:30 p.m., hearing health will be discussed and hearing screenings will be available at Fairways, High Street, Victor. Call (585) 388-3818 for more information.

Healthier kids

A new Web site launched by the Healthi Kids Coalition, www.healthikids.org, encourages the community to advocate for the coalition’s agenda, provides information, lists events and includes a public forum for sharing experiences and ideas.

This initiative of the Finger Lakes Health Systems Agency, supported by The Children’s Agenda and the University of Rochester Medical Center’s Center for Community Health and Department of Pediatrics, helped city residents successfully lobby the Rochester City School District board to select a food service vendor that met the coalition’s nutritional guidelines.

Ostomy group to meet in Ontario County

The Genesee Valley Ostomy Association Support Group will meet at 2 p.m. Oct. 18 at Clifton Springs Hospital in Ontario County.

The group is open to people with colostomies, urostomies or ileostomies. The group’s meetings alternate between Ontario County and Monroe County. The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at Home Care of Rochester, 85 Metro Park. For more information, call (585) 346-5534.
