Joshua Bell to play with Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra
Joshua Bell, the 42-year-old Grammy Award-winning violinist will perform with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra during its 2010-11 season.
Bell will perform a special afternoon concert on March 20, 2011.
The season will be the last for Christopher Seaman, musical director and principal conductor, and will feature his favorite repertoire and artists, including Jon Nakamatsu and Olga Kern. The season will end with a blowout fete for Seaman.
Russian pianist QIlya Itin also will be here, as well as German violinist Augustin Hadelich and the Canadian-born violinist phenom Lara St. John.
The RPO is holding ticket prices for next year and is discounting a small section of seats to $15.
The orchestra for its Pops series is bringing back Bugs Bunny on Broadway, and will also feature Wycliffe Gordon in “The Gospel According to Jazz” program; Michael Cavanaugh performing the music of Elton John; and Keith David (his voice most recently in The Princess and the Frog) singing Nat King Cole songs.
