Wish you were here: Australia
In October, I took an 18-day guided tour of Australia. I enjoyed an extra three weeks of summer, met some new friends and saw some spectacular sights: the Great Barrier Reef, Ayres Rock (Uluru) in the outback and the Sydney Opera House. Newfound experiences, such as the Great Ocean Road, Kangaroo Island and the Philip Island penguin parade, were pleasant surprises. I watched the sunrise in the outback while looking at Uluru, dingoes howling in the distance. I saw the 12-inch tall fairy penguins come out of the surf by the hundreds at dusk on Phillip Island. I listened to the thunder of the surf on Kangaroo Island while watching the sea lions sleep on the beach. A wonderful tour guide and great companions made it a trip of a lifetime. — Linda L.
