Woman, daughter jailed; accused in underage drinking
A 46-year-old Livingston County woman and her 16-year-old daughter were arrested early Sunday and accused of providing alcohol to underage drinkers.
Karen J. McCarty, of 12 Sunnyside Drive, Dansville, and her daughter, Morgan J. McCarty, were each charged with nine counts of first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, a misdemeanor, according to Livingston County Sheriff’s officials.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a party about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at a home on Route 256 in Sparta.
Deputies found several intoxicated teens, including two girls who were so drunk they had to be taken to Nicholas H. Noyes Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Karen McCarty was being held in the Livingston County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. Her daughter’s bail is $1,500.
