Local offices are up for a vote today. Turnout is expected to be low, as it was just 33 percent in 2007, the last year for a local election, and 40 percent in 2005.

In the city, Mayor Robert Duffy is running unopposed for a second four-year term. Five City Council seats and three school board seats also are on the ballot.

There are 16 races for County Legislature. Democrats must win one and hold their existing seats in order to flip the majority to their side.

Voters will cast ballots in every town in Monroe County, though not every candidate is opposed.

Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn is seeking a third term, facing challenger Dan Greene, a former undersheriff.

There are several judicial races, including town justice posts around the county.

Voters will choose two state Supreme Court justices, a Surrogate’s Court judge, a County Court judge and a City Court judge.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Ballots and polling places can be found at www.monroecounty.gov/elections.
