Palmyra man charged in Geneva double homicide

John Brown is charged in the slayings of a Geneva woman and her 12-year-old daughter.
A Palmyra man was charged with first-degree murder Friday after a woman and her daughter were found dead in their Ontario County home.
According to Geneva Police Chief Frank T. Pane, the suspect is John Edward Brown, 35, of 285 Route 21, Lot 42.
The victims are Helen Buchel, 34, and her daughter, Brittany Passalacqua, 12. Both of them died from knife wounds. Police said the slayings may have taken place late Thursday or early Friday in the upstairs apartment at 148 N. Main St.
Police said this was a domestic incident.
Brown was also charged with parole violation. Pane said he previously had been convicted of assault on an infant.
Brown was arraigned Friday night in Geneva City Court and taken to Ontario County Jail. No bail was set.
