Palin notebook

Stunt double?
Tina Fey, move over. A Palin lookalike, Shannon Lowery of Athens, Pa. who says Palin “is absolutely an inspiration to me” was outside Borders on Saturday and posed for photos and shook hands with some of the crowd.
“I’ve been told that I look like her. I specifically did my hair this way,” said Lowery, wearing a red pantsuit, glasses and a hairstyle like Palin’s.
Lowery’s look apparently confused some people who thought she was the real thing.
“I had an elderly woman who shook my hand and thanked me, and she started to cry,” Lowery said.
Paying off
Beyond book sales, the event provided other business opportunities.
Mark Evans of Avon, Livingston County, moseyed through the crowd, selling political-campaign buttons of Palin and John McCain out of a suitcase.
“I’ve seen her before, when she was in Auburn,” Evans said of Palin, who visited the Cayuga County town in June. “She’s very friendly. And (the crowd) is very enthusiastic.”
Vendors from nearby Panera Bread Co. also sold hot chocolate, coffee and bagels.
All a-Twitter
As the crowd eagerly awaited her arrival, those who follow Palin via Twitter (SarahPalinUSA) saw this tweet, posted about 5 p.m.: “In Rochester NY now; Piper & my Dad join us here, so more FUN arrives! Folks @ these events quote those 2 from the book more than me! Luv it!” Pit stops
The Wegmans store in the plaza was a haven of a very special kind for a lot of people who had waited all night to get in. By 8:30 a.m., about 100 women were in line waiting to use the restroom.
