Rochester Police today announced the arrest of a city man accused of killing his girlfriend.

Carl Nelson, 45, was charged early today with second-degree murder, a felony, said Rochester Police Officer LaRon Singletary.

Sherie Wilson, 31, of Rochester was reported missing by Nelson on Feb. 1, Singletary said. He told police that she was last seen leaving a Kelly Street home in the early morning hours of Jan. 29.

Singletary said officers found Wilson’s body last night, on the north shoulder of Interstate 490, near the Chili Center exit. Singletary said it was not clear when she died or how long the body was by the highway. He said Nelson allegedly led police to the body.

Wilson was taken to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office last night for an autopsy.

Specific details on the slaying were not released, although Singletary said Wilson’s death stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Nelson is slated to be arraigned in City Court at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow. State courts city offices are closed today for Lincoln’s birthday.

Singletary said Wilson’s death is the third domestic-related homicide of the year. Wilson marks the fifth overall homicide in Rochester this year.
