A Penfield psychiatrist is accused of soliciting a sex act over the Internet from a former patient, the Irondequoit Police Department said Thursday.

Melvin Pisetzner, 67, of Panorama Trail was charged with third-degree patronizing a prostitute, a misdemeanor, after an investigation by police.

The investigation began when a 19-year-old man informed police that he had met Pisetzner in an online chat. Police say Pisetzner posed as a 55-year-old and offered to pay the 19-year-old to participate in a sex act with him.

The 19-year-old is a former patient of Pisetzner’s, but police said Pisetzner is not believed to have been aware of that during their online chat.

Investigators from the Irondequoit Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit subsequently assumed the online identity of the 19-year-old, which led to Pisetzner requesting the man come to his office at 1000 Pittsford-Victor Road, Perinton, to engage in the sex act, police said.

Pisetzner was subsequently arrested at his office on Feb. 25, after a brief discussion with the undercover officer.

He is scheduled to appear in Irondequoit Town Court on March 31.
